Our Story

A Work Family Comes Together

Chef Marcos' first restaurant was Cocina Esperanza in Ballard. His partnership with the owners of Smokin' Pete's BBQ, Eric and Julie Reinhardt, is grown out of a long friendship and "work family" relationship since the time they all slung pasta together in the 90's.

After Cocina Esperanza was damaged from a fire from next door, Marcos joined Smokin' Pete's to work while he figured out his next steps.

The pandemic interrupted those plans for a few years. But the three grew even closer because of it and decided that it was time to join forces on a new project. Many cousins not mentioned, adoptive or by blood have helped.

Alebrijes Kitchen was born.

This is truly a family business.
